PALO ALTO. Built in the late 1890's, Professorville is an outgrowth of Palo Alto's close ties to Stanford University and the professors who taught there. Now a prestigious neighborhood of homes on the National Register as a Historic District, this area boasts a collection of Shingle, Craftsman and Colonial Revival architecture. Palo Alto Stanford Heritage has a wonderful brochure on Professorville with a walking map of the area, which continues to be a residential neighborhood. Guided tours can be arranged by calling Palo Alto Stanford Heritage in advance. |
