Description: SANTA MONICA. A notable lunch buffet and enviable curry dishes generate lots of buzz for this enticing Indian restaurant. So, too, do the outstanding all-white decor and expert service. Upscale and refined, the place is pleasant and welcoming. Enjoy authentic entrees, including a spicy chicken vindaloo and eggplant curry. Nice selection of vegetarian dishes, too.

Los Angeles isn't known for its Indian food. As a native, however, I'd say this place is the best in town. It's not cheap, but the service is great, and the food is downright delicious. If I were to recommend an Indian restaurant to any visitors to LA, this would be the one. Great breads and meats, fresh ingredients, everything spiced just so, and the garlic-pickled carrots they give you at the table are unlike anything I've ever had anywhere else. Just elegant enough for a date or a business meeting, but not prohibitively expensive or formal for a casual night out. Try it!
