Murrieta's Westcoast Bar and Grill
(Restaurants - American Continental)
200808 1st St SW Old Alberta Hotel Building, Calgary  T2P 1M9 • 403-269-7707
Distance: ~85 m away from The Fairmont Palliser
Description: This stylish venue has attracted quite a following since its inception. Just off Stephen Avenue, Murietta's refurbished building boasts high ceilings, exposed brick, and hip furnishings. The open dining room has an exhibition kitchen, from which come such treats as Australian rack of lamb, roast chicken, osso bucco, bouillabaisse, fresh fish, and a variety of pastas. If you have room after these dishes, make sure to try something from the dessert menu. The Squirrel Nut Tart is fantastic if you love nuts; it combines hazelnuts, pecans, and pistachios and is topped with whiskey-laced cream. Delicious! Adjoining the dining room is a bar area that's incredibly popular in the evenings. It's great on its own or as a before- or after-dinner hangout.

I have been to Murrieta's several times in the past two years. It has been a memorable experience every time. The food and beverage are outstanding and served by a winning staff. The live music is definitely something to return for. Thank you and keep up the great work!

I decided to take a party of eight to Murrietta's for dinner two weeks ago. The service was the worst I have experienced in many years. It took two hours to be served our food after ordering. When I asked why it was taking so long I was confronted by the assistant manager who did not apologize and went on a rant about how they were they most popular restaurant in Calgary and this means they are busy and a wait should be expected. When served we were given wine with a different year than what was ordered. The server did not seem to care about our dissatisfaction when told about this. Upon leaving the Manager decided to approach our table and continue this egotistical unapologetic rant about being the greatest restaurant and we should just suck up the fact that it took two hours to be served. We arrived at 8pm. and left very insulted at 11:30pm. The food was awesome…I flew home to the USA with intention to never return to Murrietta's on my future trips to Calgary.
