Trattoria Giancarlo
(Restaurants - Italian)
41 Clinton St, Toronto  M6J 2N9 • 416-533-9619
Distance: ~2.802 km from The Fairmont Royal York
Description: WEST TORONTO. A friendly, casual sort of place, Trattoria Giancarlo is a favored spot during the summer for its sidewalk tables, but it's popular year round no matter where you can snag a seat. Traditional Italian dishes are the specialty. A starter of wild mushrooms over polenta, sprinkled with parmesan, is the epitome of earthy goodness. Pastas and main courses are equally good, with standouts including shrimp with lemon and garlic and grappa-marinated lamb. A sure bet!
Hours:
Mon-Sat 6pm-11pm
Pricing: Average Main Course Price: $45.00
Payment Methods: Visa,  Master Card,  American Express

Upon entering, I felt we were going into the kitchen, which was somewhat awkward. It is quite a small restaurant but the ambiance was inviting. There was no wine list, just list on a chalk board. It would have been good to have more reasonably priced wines to choose from. The romaine salad was good, but at $20 it was very expensive and there was to be tiger shrimp on the salad-- yes, there was one. I ordered the Spaghetti with calamari and the calamari was so tough that I could not eat it. The waiter did not even ask me why I had not eaten any of the calamari. My husband had a pork steak, which was overcooked. We definitely would not go back.
