FJORD DU SAGUENAY. The awe-inspiring Saguenay Fjord has sheer cliffs that soar to heights of more than 350 meters above the icy waters of the Saguenay River. Created by glacial flows during the last ice age, the fjord's eerie waters drop to depths in excess of 270 meters, far deeper than any part of the Saint-Lawrence. Plan an entire day around your visit to the fjord, including a visit to Baie-Éternité, whose unmatched beauty is seemingly guarded by Caps Trinité and Éternité, two cliffs reaching more than 500 meters into the Québec sky. Countless miles of trails traverse the park on either side of the river, making it immensely popular with area hikers. In the warmer months, cruises up the fjord leave daily from Tadoussac and Baie-Sainte-Catherine. |
