LES ÉBOULEMENTS. For a true look into the past, make the trip down to Les Éboulements to see this mill, which dates back to the late 18th century and falls under the auspices of the Canadian Heritage of Québec. Built by settler Jean-François Tremblay, the gristmill overlooks a small stream and waterfall and still runs on its original parts. Nearby, you'll find the former seigneurial manor owned by the Sales-Laterrière family; the Brothers of the Sacred Heart have maintained the home since the late-1940s. The mill's driveway is about 500 yards west of the road to quaint St-Joseph-de-la-Rive. Don't forget to stop by the mill's bakery, where delicious white bread, tarts and raisin bread are prepared. |
