Whistler Film Festival
(Events - Best of the City)
Various venues, Whistler
Description: Although they sponsor several smaller film fests throughout the year, this is the Whistler Film Festival Society's main annual event. More than 90 films are shown over the course of four days – most of them are Canadian, but other countries are represented as well. And each festival brings its fair share of special guests (actors, filmmakers, writers, cinematographers). Be aware that, as is the case in many countries, BC law states that in order to view unclassified films, you must be over the age of 18 AND a member of the society screening the film – but don't worry, the cost is minimal. Tickets and passes may be purchased on-line about three weeks prior, or in person or by phone about two weeks prior. Venues are the Village 8 Cinemas (4295 Blackcomb Way) and MY Millennium Place (4335 Blackcomb Way). There are also several free screenings at Skier's Plaza (mostly shorts).
