ST. JAMES PARISH. In a previous life, the building that now houses the much-lauded The Tides restaurant was the residence of a well-to-do family. Not too much has changed, except there are now casuarina trees growing right through the roof giving the place a certain a trendy ambience much appreciated by celebrities and other style-conscious types. Seafood is the star here, expertly prepared by an internationally trained chef. Dishes tend to be contemporary Continental or French, with a subtle hint of Caribbean flair. A light Tart au Citron is the perfect finish, but chocolate lovers will want to try the "Tidation," chocolate ganache on a flourless chocolate cake glazed with still more chocolate. |
