Located opposite the fishing harbor, Old Acapulco's center is this pleasant public plaza. Local women gossip as their children play under the trees, and old men meet here for games of dominoes. Food and craft vendors and shoe shine men sell their wares in the shady courtyard. Acapulco's most modern church, Nuestra Senora de la Soledad, is located on one side of the plaza. With its white walls and blue, onion-bulb spires, it resembles an Eastern Orthodox Church, though it was originally designed as a movie house. |
