Distance: ~399 m away from Fairmont Chateau Laurier
Description: One of the town's top public houses, Blackthorn encourages patrons to relax and enjoy its homey charm and laidback atmosphere. On game nights, it's not uncommon to find the place crowded with execs who are counting on the Blackthorn's famous "pub grub" to sustain them through the night. In the warmer months, the patio area is a great place to kick back and take in the day's events.

Food and decor are great...very chill atmosphere but still classy. However beware, some wait staff have attitude...

Limited but great vegetarian options ($11 'high protein' salad), portions are perfectly sized (small enough to be presentable, large enough to satisfy). Sufficient wine list. Front patio is good - atmosphere on back patio appears to be VERY nice (looking onto scenic courtyard, but was VERY busy on a Saturday night). Location is convenient and in classiest end of the Market, but Blackthorn still maintains a refreshing casual element. Prices are reasonable considering the area. Service was a solid "good", providing personality, honesty and a caring touch - although 4-5 glasses were broken within 90 minutes and a guest was slightly splashed with water! Recommended for a summer night on the back patio with a light meal and glass of wine.
