Día de los Muertos
(Events - Best of the City)
Various Locations, Acapulco
Description: Bone-shaped candies rattle among the marigolds during this festival that is celebrated throughout Mexico to honor the memory and spirits of children and other deceased family members. A good spot to view the proceedings is near the zócalo (town square) and at nearby cemeteries. Locals gather to decorate shrines with sunny yellow flowers and photos, then parade them through the streets. Music and celebration are non-stop and there is no set schedule or fee to watch.
