Description:
This sturdy house is reputed to be the oldest habitable dwelling in Manitoba province. Oak logs sit atop a foundation of stones. Shingles were all hand-split, and the interior plaster walls were reinforced with buffalo hair. Construction on the house began in 1851 and was completed in 1853. The original occupants' furnishings and other Red River settler belongings are on display.
