Description: Visitors to the Montebello area would be remiss if they didn't check out the historic home of Louis-Joseph Papineau, one of Canada's most prominent 19th century political figures. Guests to the estate, which overlooks the Ottawa River, may tour both the grounds and the gorgeous manor house, a castle-like structure completed in 1850. Although the house has seen fairly extensive renovations over the years, a few of the rooms look very much as they did when the Papineau family still lived here. Guided tours are available.
