Description:
Filmgoing in the early years was a more glamorous affair, and there are few theaters left that retain that spirit. The Stanford, a fully restored Greek Revival structure dating from 1925, is one of them. The theatre shows classics such as Laura, The Philadelphia Story, Beat the Devil, Nosferatu, and Citizen Kane. Frequent film festivals highlight certain genres, directors, or actors – offerings over the years have included an Alfred Hitchcock series, a Satyajit Ray Festival, and a Cary Grant retrospective.
