Description:
AIRPORT - YYC. Set in an historic bank building along Stephen Avenue, the James Joyce is beautiful and inviting. The decor is completely Old World, with traditional details, dark woods, interesting memorabilia, and refined accents. The antique bar, which hails from Ireland, now serves Guinness at three different temperatures, so you can enjoy it as you prefer. If you find yourself hungry, they have terrific pub fare, including Irish stew, shepherd's pie, and fish-and-chips. They also make a great boxty (stuffed potato pancake), along with steak, chicken and lamb. On select nights, the pub sponsors Irish dancing and live Celtic and Irish bands. This pub is one of the best – come any time of day, and if you've already experienced the charming interior, stake a claim on an outdoor table and enjoy the Stephen Avenue people-watching. |

Description:
AIRPORT - YYC. This fun neighborhood bar is located near downtown and just steps away from the Eau Claire Market. Its cozy environment includes an outdoor patio, fireplaces, and a 100-year-old Scottish bar imported from the UK. If you want something to drink, that's easily taken care of; you'll find a couple of dozen draft beers and even more bottled ones. There's also hard liquor if you need an added jolt. Typical pub food is available, including a great afternoon tapas menu. Occasionally, the establishment hosts patio barbecues, where the chefs grill all sorts of meats for hungry patrons. You'll also find live bands performing from time to time. |

Description:
AIRPORT - YYC. Perennially popular and always crowded, this English pub is the city's great equalizer, attracting (and welcoming) patrons of all ages and backgrounds. They come for the laid-back ambience, live bands which play on Wednesdays (often with no cover), and the open jam sessions that take place on Saturday afternoons. Of course, no pub worth its salt can get by without beer, and S & A offers local and international brews on tap, including Guinness, Becks and Stella Artois. To complement the beer, you'll find a full menu of pub fare, including hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, fish-and-chips, along with pastas and pizzas. They don't stand on formalities, and neither should you. Just wear what you have, and come on. |

Description:
Yep, it really does look like a garage, except it's hipper and cleaner, thank goodness! The place sports lots of metal accents, along with paraphernalia relating to cars, motorcycles, and mechanics. It also has a ton of pool tables for those who like their game and, perhaps, some friendly wagering. A large bar serves up libations of all sorts, ensuring that no one goes away thirsty. You'll also find an array of TVs tuned in to whatever's most interesting. Young professionals comprise the bulk of the clientele, and the club happily accommodates their private parties and events. |

Description:
A destination for all activities, this C&W dance club is also a restaurant and bar. It's incredibly popular during Stampede but is well-attended throughout the year, when it's a haven for real cowboys and ranch-workers. If you come for the food, you'll find hearty fare like steaks, burgers, and ribs. If you come to drink, you'll find about anything you want. And if you come to dance, well, you'll be in good company. From line-dancing to two-stepping, you'll find patrons digging into the music with abandon, enjoying themselves and the camaraderie that develops among other dancers. At any given time, you'll also find performances by live bands and dance lessons as well. |
