This outdoor park recreates various eras in Edmonton's history, down to period buildings and costumed guides. Visitors can tour a fort from the 19th-century fur-trading years and wander replicas of streets from 1885 (the frontier era), 1905 (the year Edmonton became Alberta's capital), and 1920 (a time of rapid growth). In April 1908, Edmonton installed an automatic telephone exchange, streamlining communications and bypassing the need for live operators. This unique museum tells the history of telephony and telecommunications technology here and around the world, through exhibits of historic equipment and vintage photos. You can see some of the earliest phones, including wooden and Bakelite models, and examples of virtually every style ever made. There's even a Mickey Mouse phone from the 1970s. |

Description:
Whether you're interested in education, history or architecture, this museum has something to offer. Housed in a stately brick building, erected in 1904, the museum features restored classrooms to illustrate the development of public education. The structure also houses a restored legislative chamber, which is where Alberta's policy-makers met in 1906 and 1907. Also on the grounds of the museum is Edmonton's first public school, a wood-framed building used from 1881 until 1904. A research room with photos, textbooks and other school-related data is available for public perusal. |

Description:
As a tribute to Alberta's Ukrainian settlers and in an effort to preserve their heritage, this museum acquires and displays artifacts relating to the culture. Visitors will see an array of traditional clothing, including the costumes of important women through the ages. Handicrafts such as embroidery, weaving and woodcarving are on exhibit too, as are elaborately-decorated Easter eggs and musical instruments from the native land. Many religious items illustrate the importance of their faith to Ukrainian immigrants; an early Slavonic Bible from 1751 is among the artifacts displayed. The museum's archives also contain a wealth of diaries, letters and manuscripts. |

Housed in a WWII-era hangar, this museum dedicates itself to preserving historical aircraft and educating the public on aviation in Alberta in general and Edmonton in particular. On display are planes from as far back as 1920; also represented are aircraft from the era of the World Wars and from early commercial aviation. Restoration by volunteers takes place in-house.
