10Best Pub
Sherlock Holmes Pub
(Nightlife - Pub)
10012 – 101A Ave, Edmonton  T5J 3Z1 • 780-426-7784
Distance: ~135 m *
Description: A tribute both to the famous detective and his native land, this British-styled pub is just what you'd expect. Dark woodwork, stuccoed walls, and all the paraphernalia that gives a pub its life are on display here. You'll find Irish and British beers on tap, along with a good selection of Canadian brews and some international labels. The food extends beyond pub fare, so you can get steak and kidney pie or bangers and mash, or you can also opt for pastas, burgers, pizzas, and other dishes with a more global flavor. An amiable spirit runs through the place and its outdoor patio, which is a great place to sit during warm weather. Depending on which Holmes you're in (there are four in town), you'll also find live music, darts, pool, karaoke and group sing-a-longs.

Druid
(Nightlife - Pub)
10616 Jasper Ave, Edmonton  T5K 0N2 • 780-454-9928
Distance: ~2.090 km *
Description: A traditional decor of stained glass, dark wood, and memorabilia envelops diners at this Irish pub. The bar occupies a place of prominence in the center of the area, and a stone inscribed with runic symbols pays homage to the pub's name. The authenticity extends to the alcohol as well; you'll find 18 draft beers, 30 malt beers, and a wide array of Irish whiskeys. If you get hungry, hearty pub food is eminently satisfying. Among the offerings are a rich Irish stew and the classic boxty, a delicious potato pancake stuffed with meats, vegetables, and sauce. Given the day you're there, you'll find live music performances, DJs playing favorite tunes, and patrons getting down on the small dance floor.

O'Byrne's Irish Pub
(Nightlife - Pub)
10616 – 82 Ave, Edmonton  T6A 2A7 • 780-414-6766
Distance: ~4.865 km *
Description: The Celtic spirit runs proud and strong at this Old World pub on Whyte Avenue. As is typical of good Irish pubs, O'Byrne's serves stout pints of Guinness, draft and bottled beer from Canada and the UK, and rich, filling pub fare, including legendary fish-and-chips, an all-day Irish breakfast and lamb stew. For a drink with more potency, try something from the long list of single malt scotches or a smooth Irish whiskey. And to make the experience that much more heady, sample one of their premium cigars. Live music is also an integral part of O'Byrne's appeal. Friday and Saturday pull the biggest crowds, but you'll find a range of Celtic, jazz, rock and folk music almost any night you're around. A great neighborhood pub.
