Description:
Edmonton has a number of excellent Indian restaurants, but Khazana stands out for its décor, which wavers between rustic and exotic. Wood beams, stone fireplaces, detailed embroidered wall hangings, and solid wood tables somehow combine in an elegant richness that perfectly complements the earthy but complex food. Meat eaters will be delighted with succulent tandoor-oven roasted chicken, seafood, beef and lamb, but vegetarians shouldn't shy away, because Khazana features a wide range of meat-free options, too – in fact, you may have to fight off carnivore advances! |

Description:
Voted one of the top five ethnic restaurants in Canada by Hotel Restaurant Magazine, New Asian Village offers a wide variety of regional Indian dishes. Tandoor-cooked meats (chicken, lamb, beef and goat) are tender and flavorful, but there are plenty of vegetarian options and even some seafood. The best time to check it out is midday, for the lunch buffet. It's a little pricey, but with this much variety you're sure to get your money's worth. The restaurant also boasts an incredible beer list – about 200 different brews from all over the world. |

If you're not familiar with the cuisine, plan to visit here for the buffet lunch, when you'll find a huge variety of traditional dishes and you can sample to your heart's content. Consistent favorites are the lamb rogan josh, aloo gobi, and butter chicken; there are also plenty of choices for vegetarians, including saag paneer, aloo palak, bhindi, and channa masala. With its upscale atmosphere, long oak bar and tiled dance floor, Haweli also does a brisk business in private parties, so call ahead to make sure they're open. |

Description:
Cozy and dimly lit, with colorful Indian knick-knacks and artwork, Jewel of Kashmir is wonderful for a romantic dinner, but the bright, piquant flavors and eminently shareable quality of the food makes it fun for groups too. It's also considered one of the more authentic Indian restaurants in town, with a menu of traditional dishes that are sure to entice. Vegetable samosas, garlic naan, dahls, channa masala, saag paner, and aloo gobi should satisfy just about everyone, but if you must have meat with every meal, try the chicken tikka masala. It may not be the most authentic item on the menu, but the tender yogurt-marinated pieces of meat are delicious, nevertheless! |
