10Best Steakhouse
Lux Steakhouse and Bar
(Restaurants - Steakhouse)
10150 - 101st St, Edmonton  T5J 4G8 • 780-424-0400 • 780-424-0702
Distance: ~308 m *
Description: DOWNTOWN. "Where" magazine called Lux "Edmonton's best new restaurant for 2005," but the accolades keep rolling in. The stylish setting evokes a trendy NYC establishment, with a waterfall, dark wood, vaulted ceilings and plush upholstery. The menu is classic steakhouse with enough contemporary twists and unexpected delights to keep things fresh. As you'd expect, the wine list is excellent and service is friendly but professional.

Von's Steak House & Oyster Bar
(Restaurants - Steakhouse)
10309 - 81 Ave NW, Edmonton  T6E 4E4 • 780-439-0041
Distance: ~2.614 km *
Description: STRATHCONA. Von's sports an updated steakhouse atmosphere, with exposed brick, a huge stone fireplace, sleek woods and contemporary fixtures. Start your evening in the bar where you can enjoy fresh oysters and one of dozens of martinis. When it's time to eat, you'll want to try the mussels in a spicy tomato broth, or the crab-stuffed mushrooms. Then, go on to enjoy 8-22 ounces of prime rib or a fine steak. Lighter appetites can opt for a pasta dish, or fresh fish prepared one of five ways: with maple dill glaze, teriyaki sauce, baby shrimp and dill cream sauce, peach salsa, or simply blackened.

The Keg Steakhouse & Bar
(Restaurants - Steakhouse)
8020 – 105 St, Edmonton  T6E 6H9 • 780-432-7494
Distance: ~2.659 km *
Description: STRATHCONA. Affordable, casual, and ideal for families, this easy-going restaurant is perfect for spur-of-the-moment dining or when you want good, reliable fare. The place lacks any sort of pretense and comfortably accommodates diners young and old. The restaurant's real draw is its well-seasoned steaks, including juicy prime rib, grilled sirloin, and pepper bacon-wrapped filet mignon. The selection of seafood, pasta, chicken, and ribs gets high marks too. For dessert, you'll have a hard time choosing between the warm, homey apple crumble and the flashier mile-high chocolate cake. But, no matter what you try, you'll be welcomed and guaranteed to have a good meal.

Tom Goodchild's Moose Factory
(Restaurants - Steakhouse)
4810 Calgary Trl S, Edmonton  T6H 5H5 • 780-437-5616
Distance: ~6.014 km *
Description: DOWNTOWN. This is a BIG restaurant, with 40-foot ceilings and over 20,000 square feet of floor space. Like its sister restaurants in the Sawmill chain, the Moose Factory offers fine dining in an unpretentious atmosphere. Fabulous appetizers include New England clam chowder, and tenderloin strips of alligator with sweet peppers, onion, leeks and brandy peppercorn sauce. But AAA Alberta steak is king here, and there are several cuts and sizes available ranging from 5oz to 16oz. On the other hand, seafood is well prepared too – sit at the sushi bar, or order a Platter for Two, heaped with Brazilian lobster tails, Alaskan king crab, oysters Rockefeller, bacon wrapped scallops, sautéed shrimp and steamed mussels. A grand buffet brings famished professionals on weekdays at lunch, and there are great happy hour deals daily in the lounge, 3:30pm-6pm.
