10Best Indian
Le Taj
(Restaurants - Indian)
2077, rue Stanley, Montréal  H3A 1R7 • 514-845-9015
Distance: ~0.642 km *
Description: Step off the rue Stanley and into the heart of India at Le Taj. Dining is a study in elegant simplicity, enhanced by their stunning examples of artifacts and wall sculpture, one of which was made for the India Pavilion at the '67 Expo. A buffet is available for those who wish to taste a little of everything; at lunch this is a very reasonably priced option. The regular menu is extensive and concentrates on north Indian staples fragrant with turmeric, ginger and garam masala. The portions are generous and are all accompanied by handmade naan, served hot, fresh and aglow with a glaze of butter.

Ganges
(Restaurants - Indian)
6079, rue Sherbrooke ouest, Montréal  H4A 1Y2 • 514-488-8850
Distance: ~5.447 km *
Description: Tandooris, curries and masalas, oh my! Set against an elegant backdrop of deep burgundy cloths in a room festooned with paintings of Indian mythological scenes, the dishes are common Indian comfort foods but done with an eye towards using fresh ingredients and a minimum of grease. The rice studded with saffron and cardamom makes a fine counterpoint to the spicy Madras sauce. Wash it all down with an ice cold beer and it won't set you back more than your wallet can handle.

Bombay Choupati
(Restaurants - Indian)
5011 boul des Sources, Pierrefonds  • 514-421-3130
Distance: ~19.703 km *
Description: Mouthwatering dosas, made from lentil flour and stuffed with spicy potatoes, the crispiest this side of the world, are just one of the features of Bombay Choupati's predominantly South Indian menu. You'll also find samosas and pakoras, idli smothered in spicy sambal, and creamy rich butter chicken. Definitely off the beaten Montréal paths though, as it can be found on the west island, but certainly worth seeking out.
