Description:
AIRPORT - YOW. Ottawa's favorite Irish Pub, with an interior crafted in and imported from the Emerald Isle itself, is a terrific place to visit and soak up a little local color and history (not to mention a pint or two). After all, namesake D'Arcy McGee, the "Father of Confederation," was assassinated on nearby Sparks Street in 1868, just a few short paces away. The pub boasts excellent selections of single-malt scotches and Irish whiskeys, as well as all the standard ales. A full Irish menu is available, including such traditional favorites as Guinness steak, shepherd's pie, Finnegan's Fry and corned beef and cabbage. |

Description:
DOWNTOWN. Fans will instantly recognize the name. For the rest of us: Zaphod Beeblebrox is a character in Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series, a dude so cool (and popular) that he now has a bar named after him. The place is great for live music – mostly indie / alternative bands, local and international – but it's a fun place to hang out for an evening, too. They have a good selection of draught beer, plus cocktails like the "Pan Galactic Gargleblaster" (another book reference). Performers who have appeared here include Superchunk, Bettie Seveert, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Our Lady Peace, Jewel, Southern Culture on the Skids, Nickelback and Fishbone. |
