Description:
Pride and joy of Winnipeg, Assiniboine Park is an 1100-acre urban retreat. Within its borders are a fine zoo, the Lyric Theatre (a large outdoor stage), Tavern in the Park Restaurant, and numerous gardens, from formal English style plantings to butterfly gardens to the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden. A conservatory houses tropical foliage plants and flowers – a welcome sight in the dead of winter. Miles of trails make the park popular for long walks and bike rides during the warmer months, and cross country skiing in the winter. The park also features a 700 acre forest, complete with its own resident herd of white-tailed deer. |

Description:
This park is located at the junction of the Red and La Salle Rivers, which was the site of St. Norbert, a French-Canadian settlement. A 19th century French-Canadian farmhouse and a village house have been restored and are decorated with period furnishings. Guided tours and a self-guided tour are available. |
