        Description: Celebrated for its incredible powder and all-natural snow, Sunshine has one of the longest ski seasons in the area. Spread across 3 mountains, its 103 runs are accessible by skiers and snowboarders of all ages and abilities. Challenging terrain is also available for those who want to test their mettle and their skills. To take care of all the patrons, 12 lifts transport skiers from run to run. The resort is located less than a half-hour from Banff, but its elevation gives it the feel of a much more remote location.

        Description: Known for its diverse terrain, this resort boasts 25 runs and a new lodge. It offers five chair lifts and has facilities for both snowboarders and night skiing. Most of the slopes are in the intermediate range, with advanced terrain coming in second. Expert-classed conditions can also be found. Snowmaking facilities are available for 90% of the runs, and the resort prides itself on its grooming programs. Intermediate and beginner slopes are groomed nightly, in fact. Since the resort is only 15 minutes away from Banff, some of the hotels offer shuttle service to and from Mount Norquay.

        Description: Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park was the site of the 1988 Winter Olympics Nordic Skiing events, plus several other mountain bike and cross-country skiing competitions. With 65 km (40 miles) of exceptional ski trails and numerous single track mountain bike trails, the provincial park is popular year round. Trails are well marked and some are lighted. The day lodge (open seasonally but complete with café, restrooms and showers, lockers and a fireplace) is a cozy spot to rest after a day on the trails. Trailsports offers lessons and equipment rental.

        Description: Designed and built for the 1988 Winter Olympics, this resort has adapted itself to general usage and welcomes both novice and accomplished skiers. 70% of the terrain is considered intermediate in class; most of this falls mid-range on the mountain, with expert above and beginner below. A total of 28 runs comprise the resort, and 5 chair lifts easily handle slope traffic. Snow-making facilities cover 85% of the runs, and grooming is a high priority. Snowboarders are accommodated along the slopes, and 35 acres of gladed runs take care of those who want more challenging terrain.
