Description:
LA MALBAIE. The area's oldest course (circa 1876), Murray Bay offers hole after hole of open fairways. A good iron game is essential here; otherwise, you'll need a backup plan. Don't let hole two, the course's signature hole, surprise you; it may not look like much, but hitting from an elevated tee down to a quick green often gets people into trouble. As you make your way around the course, take time to appreciate the beautiful layout and surrounding mountains. The back nine especially boasts a number of picturesque, rolling holes – just try not to lose your focus. |

Description:
LES ÉBOULEMENTS. For a true look into the past, make the trip down to Les Éboulements to see this mill, which dates back to the late 18th century and falls under the auspices of the Canadian Heritage of Québec. Built by settler Jean-François Tremblay, the gristmill overlooks a small stream and waterfall and still runs on its original parts. Nearby, you'll find the former seigneurial manor owned by the Sales-Laterrière family; the Brothers of the Sacred Heart have maintained the home since the late-1940s. The mill's driveway is about 500 yards west of the road to quaint St-Joseph-de-la-Rive. Don't forget to stop by the mill's bakery, where delicious white bread, tarts and raisin bread are prepared. The mill and bakery are open in the summer months; call ahead to arrange a visit from October through May. |
