LA MALBAIE. The area's oldest course (circa 1876), Murray Bay offers hole after hole of open fairways. A good iron game is essential here; otherwise, you'll need a backup plan. Don't let hole two, the course's signature hole, surprise you; it may not look like much, but hitting from an elevated tee down to a quick green often gets people into trouble. As you make your way around the course, take time to appreciate the beautiful layout and surrounding mountains. The back nine especially boasts a number of picturesque, rolling holes – just try not to lose your focus. |

LA MALBAIE. Parc Régional du Mont Grand-Fonds offers terrific alpine skiing within minutes of the La Malbaie-Pointe-au-Pic area. The park's 20 runs boast a vertical drop of almost 400 meters, along with four advanced and two expert trails, including the thrilling Les Braconniers and Nagano runs. If snowboarding is more your speed, Mont Grand-Fonds offers a snowboard park. Cross-country skiing is also available, with 15 breathtaking trails highlighted by the daunting Nordique, whose 26 km is not for first-timers. RIVIÈRE-MALBAIE. This enchanting campground, which opened in 1962, is one of the oldest such parks in the Charlevoix region. Of course, the highlight of the park is the Comporté River and its 98-foot cascade – the Chutes Fraser. Other family-friendly activities located at the park include trout fishing (by permit only), hiking trails, wild berry picking and swimming. From mid-May until mid-October, the campground is open, featuring more than 280 sites. Cottage rental is also available. |

CLERMONT. Parc des Grands-Jardins offers a wide range of activities for outdoor lovers. Hikers can expect to tromp through everything from gradual wooded areas to sub-arctic terrain – just keep in mind that the park is home to healthy populations of black bears, moose and even caribou. One of the most scenic trails makes a steep, four-hour ascent to Mont du Lac des Cygnes, which seems like the roof of the world. The closest access from La Malbaie is via the Thomas-Fortin Visitors Center (418-457-3945), open daily from June to August, 9am-5pm. |

CLERMONT. Situated in a dramatic river gorge carved by glaciers thousands of years ago, this beautiful park quickly earns a special place in the hearts and memories of its visitors. Flanked by mountain peaks that rise more than 3000 feet, the Malbaie River winds its way through some of Eastern Canada's most remote country, offering some of the area's most spectacular outdoor activities. The park features numerous hiking trails and bike paths with varying degrees of difficulty, as well as primitive campsites.
