        Description: MONTEBELLO. This historic hotel, overlooking the scenic Ottawa River, dates from the 1930s and stands as one of the largest log structures in the world. It required 10,000 red cedar logs to complete. Grand events have been hosted here, such as the 1981 Economic Summit and the 1983 NATO Conference. Room amenities include cable television, mini-bar, climate control and rustic furnishings, and most rooms boast excellent views of the surrounding countryside. Leisure facilities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools, workout area, tennis courts and an 18-hole golf course. Conference/meeting facilities to accommodate 250.

        Description: MONTEBELLO. Visitors to the Montebello area would be remiss if they didn't check out the historic home of Louis-Joseph Papineau, one of Canada's most prominent 19th century political figures. Guests to the estate, which overlooks the Ottawa River, may tour both the grounds and the gorgeous manor house, a castle-like structure completed in 1850. Although the house has seen fairly extensive renovations over the years, a few of the rooms look very much as they did when the Papineau family still lived here. Guided tours are available.

        Description: This historic train station which is now a tourist bureau dates back to the early 1930s. Visit to see the station as well as find out more about the area's railway history at the interpretation center.         Description: Built in 1855 by the notable historic figure Louis-Joseph Papineau, this stone chapel houses his remains as well as those of a number of his family members. The chapel has religious items as well as the flag Papineau used in the 1837 uprising. It's nearby the train station, so if you plan to visit the station, be sure to stop at the chapel as well.
