Description:
VIEUX QUEBEC. Once a town market booming with activity and commerce, Place Royale's activity began to decline in the late 1800s, and by 1950, the area had become rather seedy. In the 1960s, the square was wonderfully restored, as was the historical Notre-Dame-des-Victoires, the oldest stone church in Québec. An Interpretation Centre is on the square, and many outdoor activities take place here in the summer. |

Description:
VIEUX QUEBEC. This unique park's claim to fame is the collection of stone ruins dating from 1685. In 1972, archaeological excavations uncovered these old homes, which had been leveled during the British Conquest, rebuilt, and then damaged again in both 1948 and 1957 by fire. If you look closely, you can still make out some of the remnants of the old houses. The park is also the site of La Fresque des Québécois, the Mural of Quebecers. |

Description:
VIEUX QUEBEC. If you visit Québec during the day-time, you'll be remiss if you don't make your way to the Promenade des Gouveneurs, a breathtaking boardwalk extending down the cliffs from Dufferin Terrasse, past the belvedere overlooking the St. Lawrence River, and on to the Plaines d'Abraham. If it's clear, expect to see the distant Laurentines to the north. If you want to capture that perfect photo of Québec, this may be just the place to take it. |

Description:
SAINT-JEAN BAPTISTE. The Plains of Abraham, named for farmer Abraham Martin who grazed his cattle here in Quebec's earliest days, is perhaps best known as the site of two pivotal battles of the Seven Years War (a.k.a. the French and Indian War). Throughout the park there are kilometers of meandering trails punctuated by numerous monuments and memorials commemorating these and other battles, along with several other attractions. During the summer months, Abraham's Bus provides a narrated tour of the park that everyone will find interesting (a special "Summer Package" rate covers admission to all of the park's attractions, including Abraham's Bus). During the winter, 15km of trails are groomed for Nordic skiing, and equipment rental is available. Call 418-648-4212 for recorded trail condition information. |

Description:
BEAUPORT. Cascading from just over 270 feet (higher than Niagara), the Chute-Montmorency is a Québec favorite. A beautiful sight year-round, the falls reach their greatest splendor in the winter, when ice chutes begin to form. For the best shots, take a stroll across one of two suspension bridges that cross the Montmorency River. An aerial tram carries riders past the inspiring waterfall – just make sure you're sporting something you don't mind getting a bit wet. The tram travels from the parking lot to the Maison Montmorency, which boasts a visitor center, shopping and a restaurant. A bike path connects this park to Domaine de Maizerets. Parking $8.50/car. |

Description:
CHARLESBOURG. Modeled after the ice hotel in Sweden, Québec's creation is every bit as unusual and trendy. More than 15,000 tons of snow and 400 tons of ice are required to construct the 30,000 square foot building, which takes some five weeks to complete. It's a magnificent sight, to be sure, decorated with sparkling ice sculptures and rustic deerskins. If you're unable to secure hotel reservations, or if sleeping in the cold leaves you cold, you can visit for a guided tour or a cocktail in the bar. There are also a multitude of fun outdoor activities to enjoy, including snowmobiling, dogsledding, snowshoeing, ice fishing, ice skating and guided hikes. |
