10Best Shopping Districts
Rue du Trésor
(Shopping - Shopping Districts)
Rue du Trésor, Québec
Distance: ~136 m *
Description: VIEUX QUEBEC. A uniquely Québec attraction, Rue du Trésor is a narrow alley between the Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral and the Notre-Dame Basilica where local artists set up each morning, attracting tourists searching for one-of-a-kind souvenirs and art lovers looking for a masterpiece. It all started in the 1960s, when two young artists decided to hang up their work and sell directly to the public, sidestepping the whole gallery process. The idea caught on and by the 1970s the alley was packed with artists and art. During the 80s, the artists formed a non-profit organization to regulate their activities and ensure the high quality of work, so you won't find any velvet Elvises!

Description: VIEUX QUEBEC. The historic Quartier Petit-Champlain, which lies in the shadow of Le Château Frontenac, is a-bustle with activity year-round. Rue du Petit-Champlain, North America's first commercial street, offers a wonderful cornucopia of quaint little cafés, galleries and boutiques, placing it high on most visitors' "to do" lists. Pause at the top of the famous Breakneck Stairs, perhaps, to snap a picture or two of Rue du Petit-Champlain as it gradually descends the side of the cliff.

Rue St-Paul
(Shopping - Shopping Districts)
Rue St-Paul, Québec  G1K 3V9
Distance: ~379 m *
Description: VIEUX QUEBEC. This historic stretch of Québec dates back to 1816, when the area was developed on the wharfs of the Saint-Charles River. The buildings along Rue Saint-Paul aren't quite as old as the district itself, though, because in 1906 the road was widened and many of the houses were destroyed. The street has become something of an antiques district, with more than 15 dealers within the city walls. You can find everything from antique books to Edwardian silver to 18th century country Québec furniture to Art Deco accessories.
