Take a guided snowshoe venture through the woods, or hop on a dogsled for a thrilling and out-of-the-ordinary experience. Or, try out one of numerous snowmobile tours – there are many to choose from. Many tours are family friendly, and the company even operates the Mini Z Terrain Park (actually a section of the Chateau Whistler golf course) – designed specifically for kids aged five to twelve to learn how to snowmobile safely (top speed is 10mph).

        Description: WHISTLER VILLAGE. Ski Magazine has dubbed Whistler-Blackcomb the best ski resort in the world, thanks in large part to an average annual snowfall of 30 feet and glacier skiing that often lasts into August. The two mountains have a combined acreage of over 8100 acres, with 200 marked trails and 38 lifts able to move 61,407 skiers per hour. The longest runs are seven miles, and there are several snowboarding parks and pipes. Each mountain has a number of restaurants and gift shops as well. Tots six and under ski free.

        Description: WHISTLER VILLAGE. Visiting Whistler in the summer? This is on the list of must-do activities. The Adventure Zone is actually several attractions in one centralized location. Families can enjoy miniature golf, horseback trail rides, a challenging maze, a bouncy castle and slide. Additional activities include a zipline, 315m (1033 feet) luge track, bungee trampolines, a flying trapeze, a human gyroscope and the Great Wall Climbing Centre. The Peak Adventure Combo Pass includes a trip to the top of either Whistler or Blackcomb Mountain, a ride on the Westcoaster Luge, and a round of mini golf. Individual attractions have slightly different hours, and are generally open through Labor Day (first weekend in September). Some attractions have an age or weight minimum.

        Description: WHISTLER VILLAGE. Although it's a little complicated to get to, Horstman Glacier is highly recommended is you love to ski but find yourself in Whistler during the summer months. The Whistler - Blackcomb resort maintains the glacier for skiing and snowboarding, bringing snow in from nearby slopes or manufacturing it on the ice. Many people attend ski and snowboard camps on Horstman during the summer, so expect a crowd. To get there, take the Wizard and Solar Coaster Express chairlifts, and transfer to a bus which travels along the Expressway to the 7th Heaven Express – take that to the top of the glacier. Summer glacier skiing is open from early June through July, but exact dates vary.

        Description: WHISTLER VILLAGE. Whistler isn't just about skiing! During the summer, this gondola ferries folks up the side of Whistler Mountain, where there are some 45km of hiking trails. The trip takes about 20 minutes and once you disembark you can follow a variety of signposted paths that open up vista after vista – bring a camera. If you don't quite trust your map skills, the resort leads guided tours each day at 11:30am. You can go even higher up (for even grander views) by taking the Peak Chairlift.
