Held at Nad Al Sheba every March, this is a fillies-meets-fashion extravaganza. The 2007 meeting had a staggering $21.25 million purse up for grabs one evening, which climaxed with the $6 million Dubai World Cup, the world’s richest horse race. The popular Dubai World Cup also includes the UAE Derby, Dubai Kahayla Classic, Dubai Duty Free, Dubai Sheena Classic, Dubai Golden Shaheen, and Godolphin Mile. The competition off the track is as fierce as it is on, with the zany "Best Dressed Lady" and "Best Hat" competitions and luxury car draws. Seating in the Maktoum Grandstand is open to the public, with additional general admission seating in the temporary bleachers in the International Village. |

The Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens is entering its 40th year of rugby in Dubai. Beginning in 2008, the event moved from the famous Al Awir grounds to “The Sevens,” a new, purpose-built venue with room for 50,000 fans.
The Dubai Sevens features 16 of the best Sevens nations in the world playing at championship levels. The weekend offers 44 matches of tournament-style play, with a famous “Rugby Rock” concert capping off the event. |
