Description:
YALETOWN. This enticing dance spot is one of Vancouver's most popular – and it has been for more than two decades now. For much of the week, Richard's features live bands, both local and touring acts, including performers like Prince, Branford Marsalis and Philosopher Kings. On weekends, however, DJs spin, and patrons fill the dance floor, grooving to reggae, rock, R&B and house tunes. The place's lively ambience can be attributed to splashy decor, high-tech laser lights, a terrific sound system and a well-dressed crowd. |

Description:
DOWNTOWN. What was once the Paradise Theatre is now a revamped club, designed in masculine style with rugged wood detailing, a 17-foot-long bar, and motorcycle accents. The narrow space is three stories high, although most of the action occurs on the ground floor (the upper two floors boast smaller, balcony-like venues). A huge disco ball holds court over the space, adding punctuation. Top 40, Latin, hip-hop, and soul add flavor to the music mix, providing a backdrop for the mating dance of singles on the make. |
