Description:
RAILTOWN. A popular restaurant by day, the Alibi Room really comes alive at night. Under new ownedrship and the culinary direction of a new chef, lunch, dinner and weekend bruch are a delight for the gourmand. The club continues a legacy to support independent films and their creators by providing space for filiming, readings and wrap parties. It is also a great place to dance to the mixed rhythms of rotating DJs or enjoy one of their specialty vodka drinks. You'll also find a great wine list to accompany the small plates. A real local favorite, Alibi plays host to everyone from the eccentric to the street smart. |

Description:
KITSILANO. As cozy and intimate as you'd expect a jazz venue to be, this much-appreciated club delivers some of the city's best live performances. Although the definition of what jazz is can be broad here, the music is undeniably top-notch. The place is especially busy on weekends, so you'll need to come early to get a seat in the 70-person room. A terrific cocktail menu includes a wide array of martinis, and food choices include a menu of light fare and sinful desserts. A favorite of aficionados and novices alike. |

Description:
DOWNTOWN. This hip lounge riffs on its name, thanks to '60s-era decor, artwork and drinks that pay homage to Ginger Rogers and Ginger Grant, and an Asian-inspired menu. The cozy club draws a fashionable crowd, who relish its tasty cocktails and pillow-dressed sofas, which boast burnished tones. DJs add atmosphere with house music, and female performers recall the days of burlesque from time to time. A great place to lie back and enjoy the evening. |

Description:
DOWNTOWN. One of Vancouver's most lively gay clubs, Odyssey runs the gamut of nighttime entertainments. Dancing takes the forefront most nights, but you'll also find female impersonators, go-go boys, strippers, gay bingo and other events. An outdoor patio accommodates folks who need a smoke, and a pool table invites friendly competition. Bartenders mix up mean cocktails, especially martinis, and because all folks are welcome, lines to enter often form on weekends. On the eastern outskirt of Davie Street. |

Description:
DOWNTOWN. Subtly lit and with pub-like ambience, this intimate club is a great Vancouver equalizer, welcoming folks of all interests, backgrounds and likes. Comfortably worn after 70 years of service, the Railway Club is one of those places that just feels good when you enter. Early in the evening, it invites socializing; after 8pm, bands take to the stage, and the place gets added character, courtesy of rock and blues music. Great draft beers are an added perk, and although it's a private club, gaining entrance is just a matter of paying a nominal annual price. |

Description:
DOWNTOWN. Long a favorite hangout, this rock-n-roll club finds particular favor with area college folks. They give it special attention for its casual ambience, free-flowing beer, animated bartenders, and great lineup of live music. In addition to local talents (including house bands), you'll encounter well-known performers from all over Canada. Plus, some celebrities have enjoyed the club on its own merit, so you never know who you may catch in the crowd. Theme nights occur frequently, offering events like karaoke and '80s music. |

Description:
GRANVILLE ISLAND. Since it premiered in 1980, this comedy troupe has delighted countless folks with shows brimming with quick wit and physical innovation. Improvisational techniques join with audience suggestion and interaction in an explosive display of ad hoc comedy. No two shows are ever the same, and except for the late shows on Friday and Saturday (which have a tendency towards the risque), performances are largely family-friendly. Alums of the program include folks like Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie, who use their well-honed abilities on the TV show "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" |

DOWNTOWN. Elegant but unpretentious, this wine bar revels in its care of patrons – in service, in regional cuisine, and in wines. Folks from all walks come to indulge in creative fare that melds local and Asian sensibilities. Better yet is the appeal of the bar, which presents 500 selections, including 75 by-the-glass offerings from across the globe. Martinis are also a strong suit, and they're especially good coupled with complimentary appetizers during happy hour. Live jazz only solidifies the allure of this terrific place. |
