Cheshire Cat |
(Nightlife - Pub) |
2193 Richardson Side Rd, Carp 613-831-2183
| |
Description:
Set in an 1870s-era schoolhouse, the Cheshire Cat looks for all the world like a traditional British pub. The food and beer menus, too, are reminiscent of what you might find in a public house across the pond, although you'll also find some local microbrews on the list. And the clientele includes not a few Brit ex-pats. So if Ottawa just feels too "Canadian," or if you're homesick, or if you're an Anglophile, or if you just love bangers and mash, this is the place to go. Special events include wine tastings, British trivia nights, and euchre tournaments. |

Description:
An extremely popular spot in the ByWard Market, Chez Lucien is a pub with a difference. The atmosphere is fantastically welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the food takes "pub grub" to the next level. The menu is short but sweet and augmented by daily specials; everything is wonderfully fresh and well-prepared. There's a good selection of microbrews and wines, and the jukebox (free!) has probably the most eclectic array of tunes in town. A gem! |

Ottawa's favorite Irish Pub, with an interior crafted in and imported from the Emerald Isle itself, is a terrific place to visit and soak up a little local color and history (not to mention a pint or two). After all, namesake D'Arcy McGee, the "Father of Confederation," was assassinated on nearby Sparks Street in 1868, just a few short paces away. The pub boasts excellent selections of single-malt scotches and Irish whiskeys, as well as all the standard ales. A full Irish menu is available, including such traditional favorites as Guinness steak, shepherd's pie, Finnegan's Fry and corned beef and cabbage. |
