Harbor House
(Restaurants - Best Value)
74-425 Kealakehe Pkwy Honokohau Harbor, Kailua-Kona  96740 • 808-326-4166
Distance: ~22.12 mi *
Description: KONA COAST. Hankering for a fresh ahi sandwich or some fish and chips? How about a cold beer? Want it with a view, maybe at a table outside? Look no further, because Harbor House is where you need to go. Relaxed, casual, and friendly, it's the ideal spot to appreciate the island aloha that everyone talks about so much. It's all good, man. If you head there for dinner, make sure it's an early one you're planning.

Royal Siam
(Restaurants - Best Value)
70 Mamo St, Hilo  96720 • 808-961-6100
Distance: ~52.74 mi *
Description: HILO. Do a bit of exploring in downtown Hilo, and you'll likely find a cornucopia of hidden-away gems – neat little stores and eateries that high-profile travel guides eschew in favor of flashier coastal venues. Royal Siam is one such place. A favorite with the local crowd, the restaurant has earned a strong reputation thanks to friendly service and some of the Big Island's top Thai dishes, from stir-fries to satays to noodle platters. Best of all, prices are more than reasonable.

Seaside Restaurant
(Restaurants - Best Value)
1790 Kalanianaole Ave, Hilo  96720 • 808-935-8825
Distance: ~55.25 mi *
Description: HILO. This aptly named gem earns high marks from the Hilo dining set thanks to its captivating setting (the restaurant overlooks ponds stocked with trout, perch, mullet, and catfish) and superb New American fare. Although the decor, which includes plastic chairs and wooden tables, doesn't leave much to the imagination, house specialties do. Sample homegrown mullet (remember the ponds?), fried aholehole (Hawaiian flagtail), parrotfish, or steamed opakapaka. Landlubbers will appreciate terrene offerings like a New York strip and pork tenderloin. Best of all, prices are more than reasonable, making this an ideal stop for vacationing families.
