        Description: Stanford University covers over 8,000 acres and the best way to get a sense of its scope is to take a guided tour. There are two types of tours available, walking and riding. One-hour student-led walking and golf cart tours cover the highlights, including the Main Quad and the Stanford Museum. This is a rarified, beautiful environment that is fun to be part of, even if for just a little while. Tours are available daily year round, except during winter break and certain holidays – call ahead to verify dates.

        Description: PALO ALTO. Built in the late 1890's, Professorville is an outgrowth of Palo Alto's close ties to Stanford University and the professors who taught there. Now a prestigious neighborhood of homes on the National Register as a Historic District, this area boasts a collection of Shingle, Craftsman and Colonial Revival architecture. Palo Alto Stanford Heritage has a wonderful brochure on Professorville with a walking map of the area, which continues to be a residential neighborhood. Guided tours can be arranged by calling Palo Alto Stanford Heritage in advance.
