(Nightlife - Live Entertainment)
114 8th Ave SW, Calgary  T2P 1B3 • 403-262-0708
Distance: ~154 m *
Description: Set in an historic bank building along Stephen Avenue, the James Joyce is beautiful and inviting. The decor is completely Old World, with traditional details, dark woods, interesting memorabilia, and refined accents. The antique bar, which hails from Ireland, now serves Guinness at three different temperatures, so you can enjoy it as you prefer. If you find yourself hungry, they have terrific pub fare, including Irish stew, shepherd's pie, and fish-and-chips. They also make a great boxty (stuffed potato pancake), along with steak, chicken and lamb. On select nights, the pub sponsors Irish dancing and live Celtic and Irish bands. This pub is one of the best – come any time of day, and if you've already experienced the charming interior, stake a claim on an outdoor table and enjoy the Stephen Avenue people-watching.
