Description:
Recognized as one of the town's best restaurants, especially one not affiliated with a hotel, Andy's Bistro combines European culinary techniques with Canada's best meats and produce. The result is gourmet fare that garners widespread praise. The dining room, painted to resemble a subterranean wine cellar, has a cozy, romantic charm. The celebrated menu changes regularly to capitalize on each season's bounty. Starters include the "soup of yesterday" (because "soup always tastes better the second day") and blue crab cakes with spicy peanut dip. Main courses include apricot and grain-mustard duck breast, Stilton and port filet mignon, and caramelized onion and apple pork tenderloin. Dinners regularly last two hours or more; a selection of wines, beers, ports and scotches is available. |

Description:
Well-known for its fabulous pastries and breads, this small establishment constantly entices patrons to come early for the most sought-after items. That's no small feat, considering that everything is terrific. Cakes and muffins are moist, pies are packed with fruit, and croissants are so light and airy you'll imagine they're almost calorie-free. The breads are also wonderful; French baguettes go quickly, but other options are tender and fresh too. To temper the sweetness of the treats, the shop sells cups of aromatic coffee. They practically beg to accompany the signature bear claws, cinnamon-y and rich. Don't let them down. |

Description:
A five-minute drive south of town will bring you to this fabulous restaurant, which boasts some of the area's best dining. Guests marvel at the mountain views while immersing themselves in dishes like beef tenderloin with cabernet sauce, grilled venison loin with Saskatoonberry compote, or rack of lamb Provençal. The cuisine, in short, is top-notch, and the kitchen goes to great lengths to ensure that each dish benefits from the freshest ingredients available. Other terrific options include the daily pasta and the flaky, full-flavored vegetable strudel. The breakfast buffet is a great alternative if you can't make the evening meal. |

Description:
This hip venue enjoys a second-story location, along with outdoor dining and great views. Dried herbs and flowers hang along the window line, and a woodburning oven sends terrific smells into the air. A large bar separates the restaurant into a dining room and lounge, offering alternatives for sit-down meals and socializing with friends. The menu has an international appeal, featuring dishes inspired by nations all over the world. Steaks, chicken, ribs, fish, pastas, pizzas, burgers and sandwiches make up the options, and desserts are tempting as well. The restaurant is popular year-round, but the lounge is busiest in summer, when drink specials are frequent. |

Description:
Grand windows frame a spectacular view of Lac Beauvert and the mountains beyond, providing guests with a visual feast to accompany the culinary one that awaits. The dining room is beautifully elegant, pale salmon-colored walls set against architectural details of polished oak. The menu's European sensibility works well with Canadian game, resulting in succulent entrees of Alberta lamb, Atlantic salmon, Canadian buffalo steak and duck breast. Appetizers repeat the theme: salmon tartare, sage-roasted rabbit loin and roasted oxtail consommé. Desserts also fall in, as evidenced by the maple sugar-crusted crême brulée. Perfect for special occasions or simply as a treat to celebrate the beauty of the Rockies. Jackets and reservations recommended. |

Description:
The downright beastly Evil Dave's provides a welcome escape from the standard steak-and-game menus that are so common in this part of the country. Chef-owner David George Husereau whips up some fantastic, globally inspired stuff with cheeky names like "Malicious" blackened salmon, "Evil Diva" chicken salad, "Wrathful" pan-fried shrimp, "Vicious Hippy" artichoke-stuffed Portobello, and "Cell Phone in a Theatre" jerk chicken. Malevolent allusions aside, the place is fun, friendly and quite kind-hearted. |

Description:
A glass atrium houses this restaurant, offering guests a sheltered vantage point from which to view the immediate landscape. The restaurant also connects to a charming outdoor terrace, which is well-attended in summer months. The menu sports a few dishes influenced by world cuisine but is primarily Canadian. Alberta steaks, mountain trout and Atlantic salmon figure prominently; accompanying them are baby back ribs, homemade pastas, fondue and chicken Wellington. A selection of wines complements the cuisine, and diners often make a light meal of the savory appetizers. Desserts and breakfast (a la carte and buffet) also available. |
