Description:
Specializing in the artwork of Canada's Native Americans, this gallery has a real local-flavor ambience, colored by themes of wildlife and the Rocky Mountains. It has been in existence for approximately 30 years and carries a wide selection of bold artwork and sensuous stone sculptures. Jade carvings, bronze sculptures, and jewelry (ammolite, turquoise) also make an appearance, along with a plethora of wall art that revels in graphic color contrasts and flowing lines. Among the notable artists represented are Norval Morrisseau, Doris Cyrette, Jackson Beardy, and artists of the First Nations Group of Seven. Stylistically, this art is unique to the area and continues to increase in popularity. |

Description:
Deep teal-grey walls and carpets effectively highlight the finely-crafted artwork at this unpretentious gallery. All artists represented are Canadian, and 80% of them are from Alberta. Large- and small-scale pieces are available in a variety of media, including glass, stone carving, pottery, clay sculpture, watercolor, oil, acrylic, jewelry, scrimshaw, and raku. Landscapes, especially those with mountain subject matter, are prominent, as is the selection of Inuit art. Throughout the summer, exhibitions and receptions introducing featured artists are sponsored by the gallery. |

Description:
This gallery, combined with a gift shop, is located at the Maligne Canyon visitor center. It features high-quality works crafted by Native American artisans, especially carvings of stone and ivory. Many of the pieces are substantially-sized. You'll also find large-scale bronze sculptures of American origin, and paintings by Canadian artists, such as Norval Morrisseau. Ammolite jewelry is also available. The exquisite pieces command high prices and aren't your typical souvenir items, aside from what the setting may lead you to believe. |
