Description:
PEMBROKE PARISH. Bermuda's parliament is the oldest in the British Commonwealth, with the exception of the United Kingdom. Interested visitors can attend the gallery and watch the political process in action. In the formal tradition, and maintaining a British sense of propriety, the Speaker of the House wears black robes and a powdered wig. Debates are not timed and have been known to last until late in the night, so you may not want to hang around for the entire event. Smart-casual attire is requested. |

Description:
PEMBROKE PARISH. Open since 1997, this interactive center simulates an ocean dive 12,000 feet under the sea. Visitors sit in a small moving capsule, surrounded by the sights and sounds of a real submarine voyage. Other exhibits teach about Bermuda's shipwrecks, marine life and the history of undersea exploration. There's also a full-scale replica of Charles William Beebe's bathysphere. In 1934, just off the coast of Bermuda, he sat inside this cable-hoisted apparatus and was lowered 3,028 feet beneath the waves, thereby completing the world's first deep-sea dive. An exquisite collection of over 3,000 seashells is also on display. |

Description:
ST GEORGE'S PARISH. In 1943, The Constellation was en route to Venezuela. Now, thanks to a twist of fate, it lies in 30 feet of water 8 miles west of Royal Naval Dockyard, off Bermuda's northwest coast. The four-masted schooner is 200 feet long and provides plenty of room for divers to spread out and explore. Peter Benchley (the author of "Jaws") wrote about this ship's foundering in his story "The Deep." |
