Description:
WAILEA. An ocean vista awaits diners at this lovely open-air dining room. The cuisine, a combination of steaks and seafood, is a celebration of quality ingredients and terrific preparation. You'll also discover a tempting array of appetizers, such as caramelised Maui onion soup, Dungeness crab cakes with a gazpacho shooter, and a seafood tower for two or four. No matter your selection, you'll enjoy mild ocean breezes as you sample a Japanese Kobe beef New York strip steak, a free-range veal chop, jumbo tiger prawns, or opakapaka. Other options: a crispy half roast chicken and a 16-oz. pork chop. If you're up for it in the morning, the restaurant lays out a delicious breakfast buffet. |

Description:
WAILEA. Referring to Hawaii's state fish, the unwieldy moniker attached to this restaurant is generally shortened to "Humu." The name, however, isn't the only thing exotic about this restaurant, which is composed of multiple, thatched pavilions drifting in a saltwater lagoon. The atmosphere is unique, and the idea that you can capture your own dinner from the waters beneath is quite remarkable. Much of the cuisine is tinged with tropical accents, whether it's ahi tuna crusted with peppercorns or a sauce laced with the clean flavor of lemongrass. Even the desserts benefit from a regional flair, including coconut ice cream and a banana-chocolate tart. A memorable experience. |

Description:
WAILEA. Overlooking manicured golf courses, swaying palms, and the blue Pacific, this stylish restaurant is a great dinner choice, especially when you see the spectacular sunsets from the open lanai. The fresh catch of the day, one of the restaurant's most popular options, can be prepared in several ways (as is the island's wont), and the crab cakes are delectable too. Daily specials make the most of local ingredients and are a terrific way to enjoy the chef's skills and innovation. Savvy diners will also appreciate the miso-glazed tiger prawns, rack of lamb, aged steaks, and duckling confit. Desserts add a sweet touch to the meal, especially when you choose one of the soufflés or a dish of seasonal berries. |

Description:
MAALAEA. A little difficult to find, this elusive restaurant is worth the challenge. Situated along Maalaea harbor, it offers an appealing location and a feast of well-prepared seafood. Cooking options are manifold, and island style (with prawns, lemongrass, and coconut milk), Sicilian style (with olives, garlic, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts), and Southwestern style (with salsa, black beans, and avocado-chile-cilantro butter) only hint at the possibilities. A flavorful cioppino, scallops with Thai peanut sauce, and Alaskan king crab legs will also make you swoon. Plus, there are great appetizers, an elegant vegetarian dish, and award-winning desserts ahead. |

Description:
PAIA. Casual and affordable, this North Shore eatery, as its name indicates, sells fresh seafood. It also takes the goods and transforms them into a variety of tasty dishes for folks to enjoy on the premises or take along with them. The selection of fresh fish is impressive, and you can have it cooked Cajun style, charbroiled, or sauteed. They'll also tuck it into tacos and quesadillas, fry it up as fish-and-chips, or serve it cool and refreshing as sashimi. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, and pastas are also available, and everything is happily well-priced. The surroundings aren't elaborate, and there isn't a lot of table space, but for a clientele of surfers and visitors, does it really matter? |

Description:
PAIA. Set in a beautifully appointed beach house along the ocean, this restaurant is a Maui classic, adored by everyone who dines here. The ambience is classic Hawaiian, with lush tropical blooms inside and windsurfers skimming the waves outside. Fish, caught by a private crew, is served within hours of being caught, and each dish is impeccably prepared. The fish can be paired with caramelized onions, crushed macadamia nuts, avocado, local sweet potatoes, and more. The results are sublime. You'll also be awed by baked lobster, slow-roasted kalua pork, succulent duck, and a tender filet mignon. Be confident of any choice you make, and don't leave without trying the great appetizers, sinful desserts, and fabulous wines. A must-visit. |

Description:
LAHAINA. Well-respected and popular, this oceanfront restaurant consistently delivers terrific food that celebrates Polynesian and Indian cuisine. Diners may choose to sit inside or enjoy the tropical ambience at outside tables. Either way, entrées are spectacular. Start with ahi tuna tartare or mussels baked with blue crab and ginger. Then try lobster in saffron sauce, sesame-crusted lamb, or the famous ahi and ono tempura (two types of local fish cooked medium-rare and served with white miso dressing and lime-basil sauce). A vegetarian special of tofu, lentils, and vegetables is also popular. For a terrific ending, sample mango cheesecake or a fruit sorbet while you listen to live jazz, played Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 9pm. |

Description:
LAHAINA. Set in the heart of Lahaina, this restaurant takes advantage of Front Street's long-lived popularity. Of course, LSG&OB's menu and spectacular views work their own magic on patrons, who appreciate well-conceived fare and rooftop dining. Consider caramelized sea scallops, cashew-crusted opakapaka with papaya jam, crab-stuffed chicken, or a mixed grill with lamb, filet mignon, and lobster tail. Pastas and a terrific raw oyster bar also provide culinary satisfaction, and an exhibition kitchen offers an inside scoop on what's best and freshest. |

Description:
LAHAINA. If this restaurant's seating area were any closer to the water, diners would probably be soaking wet while chowing down on seriously fresh sashimi and Pacific Rim specials like Maui onion cioppino. However, the spectacular ocean view is secondary to the food, not a distraction from it. A flavorful lunch menu featuring salads, burgers, pupus, and tasty shrimp baskets gives way to dinner delights that showcase delectably fresh fish. You'll also find seafood puttanesca, Alaskan king crab legs, fried calamari, and an assortment of steaks and poultry dishes. |
