SANTA CRUZ COAST. Travelers who haven’t been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium recently—even within just the past year—are missing the one-of-a-kind exhibits that make the aquarium one of the best in the world. Visitors in 2003 will also find two unprecedented special exhibitions—one winding down and the other in full swing—at the world-acclaimed facility, which enters into its 20 th year in October.
The aquarium is one of the top reasons people visit the Monterey
In just the past year, the aquarium has:
•Introduced two young sea otters—Mae and Rosa—to the public
•Opened the imaginative “Jellies: Living Art” to visitor and critical acclaim
•Introduced scalloped hammerhead sharks and dolphinfish to the million-gallon Outer
Bay display. The exhibit contains the most diverse open-ocean community at any
aquarium in the world, and is also one of the few with giant bluefin tuna.
For visitors, 2003 is the last chance to see the mesmerizing deep sea creatures in
“Mysteries of the Deep,” which closes September 2. |
