About St. Andrews, NB

Situated on Passamaquoddy Bay, St. Andrews, New Brunswick, is a picturesque town that looks much the way it did in the early 1900s. Founded largely by British Loyalists fleeing New England after the Revolutionary War, the quiet burg was mostly overlooked until the late 1890s, when well-heeled city dwellers flocked here to avoid the summer heat. Today St. Andrews is still small, but it preserves a cosmopolitan air thanks to the annual influx of summer residents and tourists from all over the world. Visitors to St. Andrews are pleased to find fine restaurants, world-class shops, vital scientific research facilities and important historical landmarks all within its quaint maritime environs.

Nearby St. Stephen, New Brunswick, is home of the candy bar. In 1910 the Ganong brothers started selling blocks of chocolate wrapped in tin foil. They were also the first to package chocolates in heart-shaped boxes for Valentine's Day.
