Description:
The generosity of Mrs. Lucie Stern in the early 1930s gave Palo Alto a headstart on local community arts programs. The theater building she financed was completed in 1935 and is the heart of many community activities today. Now part of a complex of Spanish style buildings, Stern Theatre is home to the Children's Theatre, the Palo Alto Players, Theatreworks, and the West Bay Opera, in addition to the city's Recreation Department.
