Description:
Located in a white clapboard building with green trim, this market was first established in 1932. Begun by local women during the Depression, it was instituted to help with finances and head off foreclosures and imminent poverty. Thanks to those women and the citizens of Bethesda, it has continued to this day. Vendors now peddle their wares from inside the building and from its front lawn as well. Under the shelter of sycamore trees, eager shoppers find fresh produce, nuts, eggs, jams, jewelry, flowers, antiques, crafts, potted plants, quilts and oriental rugs.
