This is the fastest growing mountain bike series in North America. In fact, slots sell out within a week, so if you want to participate plan well in advance. Spectators have it a little easier, but you will be joining a crowd! Solo riders ride for 24 hours (from noon on Saturday until noon on Sunday), trying to complete as many laps as possible (usually about 16-20). Teams, on the other hand, consist of 4-10 riders so the distance each person rides is significantly less but the overall number of laps may be considerably higher. Most participants camp at the race site (there are fun things scheduled Saturday evening, like movies and corn roasts) and have some sort of pit crew to help with tire changes and pep talks; non-traditional awards are given for best pit theme and best helmet, so expect to see some crazy decorations.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE BUILDING HOUSING FOOTHILLS ANTIQUE MARKET:
The house was built as a private residence just after the turn of the century. William Brown, a former Mayor of Walhalla, grew up here and then raised his own family in the house. Some of Mr. Brown's family still live in the area.

Around 1948, the Danvenport family bought the house. They established Davenport Funeral Home. The Davenport family sold the business and in the mid 90's the current owners of the funeral home relocated to a new building on Highway 11 in West Union. Foothills Antique Market has occupied the building since February 1999.
