Generously portioned sides of potatoes and toast along with fresh coffee make for an excellent morning of paper reading and eating. Businessmen, couples, and families all come here for the blueberry coffeecake, pancakes and folksy atmosphere. Be prepared for a crowd, especially on weekends.

Il Fornaio Cucina Italiana
(Restaurants - Breakfast)
520 Cowper St, Palo Alto  CA  94301 • 650-853-3888
Distance: ~16.78 mi
Description: PALO ALTO. Tucked away in the Garden Court Hotel, this is not your typical hotel restaurant. Il Fornaio is starting to be a peninsula chain, but does not act like one with its elegant northern Italian menu and rustic ambience. It is easy to fill up on the delicious breads but try to save room for the mushroom polenta, lobster-filled ravioli or oven-fired pizzas. At breakfast, the omlette ai formagi and house-made pastries come out of the kitchen as fast as waiters can carry them. There are regional dinners and appropriate wines to accompany them. This place is always busy with business travelers so make reservations for lunch or dinner.
