Description:
Set in an historic bank building along Stephen Avenue, the James Joyce is beautiful and inviting. The decor is completely Old World, with traditional details, dark woods, interesting memorabilia, and refined accents. The antique bar, which hails from Ireland, now serves Guinness at three different temperatures, so you can enjoy it as you prefer. If you find yourself hungry, they have terrific pub fare, including Irish stew, shepherd's pie, and fish-and-chips. They also make a great boxty (stuffed potato pancake), along with steak, chicken and lamb. On select nights, the pub sponsors Irish dancing and live Celtic and Irish bands. This pub is one of the best – come any time of day, and if you've already experienced the charming interior, stake a claim on an outdoor table and enjoy the Stephen Avenue people-watching. |

Description:
An industrial coffeehouse feel characterizes this venue, which is bathed in caramel, purple, and sage. Expressive canvases line the walls, while muslin lines the windows. Tables look out over the front terrace and the street, while upholstered sofas congregate around the back wall, inviting loungers to kick back and sink in. Patrons have a full bar at their disposal, although the martini menu – all 140 selections – easily monopolizes their attention. The menu is etched on slabs of sheet metal and includes pastas, pizzas, salads, and an array of international appetizers. The place gets busy in the evenings as patrons file in to drink, to talk, to listen to music, and to revel in the tendency toward inactivity. It's a relaxing way to decompress. |

Description:
The name of this place (pronounced "kay-lee") refers to a gathering of people who've come together to play music and dance. You may not find an enormous amount of that going on, but you will find plenty of drinking taking place. While you sit among groups of congenial patrons, you can order up a Guinness, a Caffrey's, or an Irish whiskey and keep with the Celtic theme. The beer is especially nice when you take it outside to the streetside patio or the rooftop terrace. If you want food, they serve favorites like shepherd's pie, Irish stew, or fish and chips. If you're planning on going, do keep in mind that the place becomes quite busy during lunch and especially on the weekends. |
